Pat Coluzzi Named Citizen of the Year
Commissioner Pat Coluzzi named Citizen of the Year
by Rehoboth Beach Main Street
For the last 17 years, the spotlight has been focused on one of Rehoboth Beach’s outstanding citizens as they are celebrated as Citizen of the Year at the Community Unity Dinner. The annual award goes to a downtown business person, merchant, or resident who has worked or volunteered over the long-term to make positive changes to downtown Rehoboth Beach.
This year, the Rehoboth Beach Main Street Board of Directors chose to bestow this honor on long time community servant, Rehoboth Beach City Commissioner Pat Coluzzi for her devotion to downtown Rehoboth Beach and to Rehoboth Beach Main Street efforts. The Community Unity celebration, Downtown’s Cookin’, takes place on December 2ndfrom 5-7pm at the Convention Center.
“Our selection was easy,” commented Drexel Davison of Bad Hair Day? and Main Street Board President. “Pat loves and cares about Rehoboth. For many years as a second home citizen and now as a full time resident, Pat’s passionate, tireless work for the City is an exemplary example of outstanding volunteerism and community involvement.”
In addition to serving as a City Commissioner for the last five years, Pat Coluzzi is the founder and Market Master of the Rehoboth Beach Farmers’ Market. Now in its sixth year, the market is a producer only market that brings in substantial revenues for local farmers and was chosen as one of the top 20 Farmers’ Markets in the country.
She is also the President of the Lewes-Rehoboth Canal Improvement Association whose mission is dedicated to improving the appearance and functionality of the Lewes-Rehoboth Canal. The current initiative is to pave the way for green, public transportation along the canal via a solar-powered water shuttle.
As President of the Rehoboth Beach Sister Cities Association, Pat Coluzzi signed a sister city agreement in 2010 with the city of Greve-in-Chianti, Italy. In the spirit of friendship and goodwill, a new park was dedicated to Rehoboth Beach in Greve-in-Chianti in 2012. In 2013 a park will be installed in Rehoboth Beach to be dedicated to Greve-in-Chianti.
As a consultant in the renewable energy field, Pat Coluzzi provides expertise
to residential, commercial and municipal clients.
“Selecting Pat as Citizen of the Year was an obvious choice. Starting and maintaining the wonderful Farmer’s Market and volunteering on various committees that benefit downtown, Pat has proven to be an amazing citizen for downtown Rehoboth Beach, the place we love to visit, live, shop and enjoy!”, stated Kathy McGuiness, former City Commissioner and Main Street Board member.
